Diagnosis of cancer shakes a person’s foundation , it is a blow to the head and severe pain that erupts in the whole body”, it marks the commencement of a lengthy journey full of emotional, psychological, physical and practical challenges. These are common challenges that many people have to face when they are diagnosed with cancer. Perhaps the most constant psychodynamic experience of people diagnosed with cancer is grief and loss.

The challenges for people with cancer is not just of living or dying, but of evaluating what gives validity and value to life, and the ability to change goals and beliefs increases the possibility of successful coping with the disease. Counselling is highly recommended. Some eight years ago, TA's counsellor, Jamal Ajami, was diagnosed with cancer. "Fighting cancer is a life battle, living through the journey is strenuous."

Having spent the last 10 years of her career as a counsellor and Psychotherapist, she has observed the transformation of the human spirit while witnessing many changing dynamics, characteristics that can result in generating strenuous challenges.
